Today is the birthday of the first woman in space! Happy birthday to cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova!
Happy Birthday Valentina!
Just wanted to take a moment to post our policy on harassment on tumblr, it is also on our website, and will be in the program guide. The image attached is the sign we will have displayed throughout the convention.
Emerald City Comicon’s mission is to create a safe, awesome environment where geeks of all kinds can come together. We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment of any kind.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments (related to race, gender, sexual orientation, body size, disability, appearance, and religion), overly sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention.
Exhibitors, sponsors and guests are subject to our anti-harassment policy as well and have also been informed. In particular, exhibitors should not use images or material that surpasses a PG-13 rating at their booths. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use over-sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes.
If a person engages in harassing behavior, ECCC Directors and Department Heads may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from Emerald City Comicon (with no refund). If you are being harassed, witness someone else being harassed or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the Emerald City Comicon staff immediately (identifiable by green Minion t-shirts or black polos/Staff badges). We are happy to contact our security or local law enforcement, provide escort, a safe place, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the convention.
All attendees, exhibitors and staff are subject to this anti-harassment policy and are expected to follow these rules at all Emerald City Comicon events.
Our new bird skulls came in so we got to make these beautiful Pretty Deadly themed crystal pendants.
The skulls are about 1 1/2 inches long, with the total length being a little over 2 1/2 inches.
Prairie Blue: $46
Kate needed a little love today, so we made this pretty.
The big arrow is just shy of 2 1/2 inches long, the pendant is 3 3/4 inches in total length. The large crystal is Swarovski, the smally crystals are Czech.
Crystal & Arrows: $42
We now have Winter Soldier logo dog tags, glass pendants & earrings and charm pendants (paired with Black Widow and Captain America or Solo). These logos were done for us by the fantastic Psycho Andy Costello.
We’ve heard a lot of excitement over our Winter Soldier hoodies, and we are super excited too! We’re hoping to have the preliminary photos from production by this weekend to share.
Remember if this pre-order and design are successful it sells us we should keep doing this.
Goddamnit why couldn’t I find this when I had hair down to my neck?
A reason to grow it back out, right?
I received the most amazing birthday package in the mail today.
About a week ago, I had a meltdown.
No one was supposed to see the post where I freaked out. (No tags!) But the Carol Corps did, somehow. They sent me lots of messages of support. And so did Optimysticals. And Optimysticals also offered to send me one of the original run Captain Marvel costume shirts that no longer fit them. I spent about a day going “I’m not worthy!” before a friend told me that I am worthy and to just give them my address already.
The shirt came in the mail today. Along with a few other goodies that I was not expecting! When I opened the package I found the shirt and a red scarf. They were both wrapped around what I thought was a piece of cardboard. Nope! It was a signed copy of Captain Marvel #1 with an adorable little drawing of Carol stuck in the plastic cover. (!!!!!!!) Then I found the AMAZING card telling me to punch more holes in the sky, and out fell a piece of tissue paper with Captain Marvel earrings inside. At this point, I was just staring at everything, completely flabbergasted.
Once the shock wore off, I ran up to my room and threw everything on. I added my boot covers (still a WIP) and Captain Marvel necklace and looked in the mirror. I had a costume.
"THIS IS FUCKING BADASS!" was pretty much all I could think to say.
For the first time in weeks, I was able to look at my costume and not think about all the overwhelming tiny little things that I would never get done in time. Instead, I thought, “You have sixteen more buttons that need to be sewn for your boots and gloves. And you need to glue together a few cut-out pieces of craft foam for the star on the sash. AND THEN YOU’RE DONE. THIS IS SO SO SO EASY. AND IT LOOKS AMAZING. THIS WILL BE FINISHED.”
So, thank you optimysticals, so so much, for being the amazing people that you are!
And thank you Carol Corps for everything you do!
A big hug from us to you! Glad that the package did it’s job.
And a big thank you to Kelly Sue who made time in her Monday to sign that Captain Marvel #1 for you (and the Carol eating a sandwich is from her).
I gotta say, even if buttons & stars don’t happen, you’ve got Carol channeled pretty well right now.
